Parent-on-Duty
Huaxia Chinese School, New York
POD list of
responsibilities
- Maintain the tidiness of the school environment,
distribute school notices, maintain order, and ensure the students’
safety.
- Parents
are encouraged to check their own assigned date of duty ahead of time. A
PTA member will call to remind you before each school day.
- Please
report to the school at the main office (located in the AAB Building Rm.
111) before 9:20 am and sign in.
- If for
any reason, you can not make it on the scheduled date, please exchange
your date with another parent, and notify your class parent and PTA ahead
of time. If you have difficulties to exchange the date with another
parent, PTA will reschedule your POD date.
- Please
wear your name tag (to be created by the school) and orange-colored vest
(distributed by school) for identification. Emergency phone numbers
of school personnel will be on the back of the name tags.
- You must
stay at your assigned location from 9:25 am to 12:40 pm. Do NOT attend any other activities
during this time. Be alert and keep the hallway quiet during class hours.
- Maintain
a safe environment during class recesses. When classes are on break,
please walk around and check the hallways, classrooms, and stairs to make
sure that no children are engaging in any dangerous or inappropriate
activities, such as climbing out of windows, making loud noises, etc. Keep
small children (under the age of 12) away from the stairways and
elevators.
- Contact
the Principal’s Desk and main
office if any unexpected
issue develops and escort the student to the main office.
- Assist
teachers with safety issues upon their request.
- Make sure
that no chairs and HXNY signs are left in the hallway after school.
- One POD
from each Kindergarten class will stay inside the classroom and help the
teacher. The POD is expected to bring healthy snacks and drinks for
the entire class.
- Be the last person leaving the floor of your post after
checking all classrooms and hallway.
The
school vice principal, the head of the Committee of Safety and Discipline, will
patrol all the class locations either by himself or his assigned delegate to
help all PODs achieve their duties stated above.
If a
parent fails to fulfill their duty, the school administration will give a
warning for the first time, and will report to the Board of Directors of our
school for further actions, including a possibility to remove their
child/children from school, if this occurs twice within one year period.
