The following rules are always in effect.
Prohibited Conduct:
No one, either alone or with others, shall:
1) Intentionally injure any person or threaten to do so
2) Intentionally damage or destroy school property or the personal property of others.
3) Disrupt the orderly conduct of classes, school programs or other school activities.
4) Intimidate, harass or discriminate against any person on the basis of age, gender, race, sexual orientation or disability.
5) Enter any portion of the school premises without authorization or remain in any building or facility after it is closed.
6) Violate the traffic laws, parking regulations or other restrictions on vehicles.
7) Possess or use weapons, drug, alcohol or cigarette in or on school property.
8) Refuse to comply with any reasonable order of identifiable school officials performing their duties.
If a student chooses to break a school rule, to not accept his/her responsibilities, or to infringe on the rights of others, there will be sequence of consequences.
If a student violates a rule, he/she will be informed that their behavior(s) is inappropriate and a consequence will be selected for the behavior, such as; denial of a privilege, time out, loss of recess, or detention (removal from the classroom) as determined by the supervising adult. Written notification will be sent to the parents.
If teacher/staff interventions do not
remediate the inappropriate behavior(s), the student
will be re-issued a written notification (conduct referral form) with copies
sent to the classroom teacher and parents. Parents will be asked to acknowledge
receipt by
signing and returning the form to the office the following school day so that he/she will be accepted by the classroom
teacher.
If a student accumulates three Conduct
Referrals, his/her parents will be expected to
meet with the principal and teacher to discuss the inappropriate behavior(s)
and set goals for future positive behavior and/or possible consequences.
If school and parent interventions are not effective, the student may be suspended or expelled from school.
In our discipline system, desired behavior will be actively encouraged. We will continue to emphasize the recognition and positive reinforcement of exemplary behavior. It is our hope that you will discuss this discipline plan with your children and emphasize the need for the development of self-discipline based on conscious decision making. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to call the school.
